It's a picture book written from Lewis Micheaux Jr's point of view, the son of the famous bookstore owner. She wanted to be able to share this story with a younger audience, so in 2015, she published The Book Itch. In 2011, Micheaux-Nelson published the young adult, historical fiction novel, No Crystal Stair: A Documentary Novel of the Life and Work of Lewis Michaux, Harlem Bookseller. He owned and operated The National Memorial African Bookstore of Harlem, the place for Black literature and culture. The love of books runs in her family, as she is the great-niece of the famed Harlem bookseller, Lewis Micheaux. She has written numerous children's books and has won a Coretta Scott King Honor award.
